Time had gotten the best of me, and Iâd grown restless. I had skated, bowled, ate, and watched movies, but Sy still hadnât made it home. He said heâd be home by dinnertime, but it was nearly three hours past that time. I lay in my bed and watched Love Jones on mute. As great as the movie was, I didnât want to miss when the elevator sounded, alerting me of his presence. My eyes shifted to the clock mounted on the wall, and an uneasy feeling crept in me. Was something wrong? Had something happened to him? God, I prayed not. I sat up in bed because my thoughts had gotten to me. So far, Sy always kept his word. I shouldnât think so negatively. Maybe he and Ny had some unfinished business to handle.
I climbed out of bed and slipped into my house slippers. Since I couldnât sleep, I knew a mug of chamomile tea would help to relax my weary mind. The lights in his house were dimmed, but they were completely off in the kitchen because the moonlight offered enough light in the kitchen. There were no blinds or curtains in the kitchen, only tall windows where you could see how beautiful the nightfall was at every hour. I opened Syâs tea cabinet, and there were so many different flavors. This was another thing I loved about his layers. I couldnât believe a big guy like him with such a rough, yet polished exterior was a tea drinker instead of coffee lover.
Tea and mini lemon snack cookies were his favorite snack. I loved to watch him sip, eat, and concentrate on his crossword puzzle. He was such a simple yet sophisticated man. His layers consisted of being educated, very well mannered, experienced, cultured, loving, and so damn charming. I smiled to myself as I put the kettle on then thought about Sy some more. He was such a babe. I chuckled because that was such a â90s high school phrase, but he was a babe. One day I hoped heâd be my babe for real.
So that meant I saw past his scar and the fact he had the ability to shift into a flesh tearing and eating monster, according to the textbooks. Did I really see past all of that? His scarring wasnât an issue at all, but his transformation only bothered me because I had so many questions for him.
The floor creaked, and my head whipped to the right. Sy stood in the entryway of the kitchen and stared at me. My eyes lit up at the sight of him. He was home. I attempted to go to him, but he held his hand up to stop me. I stilled with confusion heavily blanketing me. My eyes roamed over him, and I noticed there was something different about him. It was like a light switched on in my head. Sy was ready to explore his fortress with me.
He wanted to own me. Domination and control were the keys to his success tonight.
